Mānuka essential oil is naturally, ethically and sustainably sourced from the East Cape of New Zealand. After harvesting, the oil is then distilled to produce 100% East Cape mānuka oil and the waste from distillation is either used in fertilizer or becomes part of a research program. Mānuka Oil is Ecocert certified as a COSMOS raw material whose non-organic raw materials (listed hereafter) have been assessed as compliant to the standard: COSMOS Version 3 (including all sub-versions) Verifying mānuka oil is 100% physically processed agri- ingredient promoting the use of products from organic agriculture, and respecting biodiversity: 1) using natural resources responsibly, and respecting the environment 2) using processing and manufacturing that are clean and respectful of human health and the environment 3) integrating and developing the concept of “Green Chemistry” 4) Certifying mānuka oil is natural, non-GMO, not tested on animals
Mānuka oil also has full traceability back to its source through all the processes, planting, harvesting, distillation, and batched finished products. Mānuka oil has been classified as safe and tolerable for human use (CAS (US and EU) 223749-44-8; CTFA monograph ID 10572 and EINECS 425-630-7). There are now over 1,000 peer reviewed international publications demonstrating Mānuka oil antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory and anti-aging properties.
